The Art of Walking

Feature Documentary

Follow in the footsteps of three remarkable people, John Francis, Katarina Witt and Michael Milton, as they reveal the art of walking the Great Ocean Walk.

Walk with

John Francis

The Planetwalker, John Francis, witnessed an oil spill in 1971. Wanting to take some responsibility for the impact, he began travelling only by foot. Set off with him now on the first part of the Great Ocean Walk - Apollo Bay to Point Franklin. Watch the videos, see his photos, and map his walk.

Walk with

Katarina Witt

Katarina Witt, one of the best figure skaters of all time, literally walks on ice. The Olympic champ now runs a Foundation dedicated to providing mobility for children with disabilities. Walk with her now, from Point Franklin to Castle Cove. Watch the videos, see her photos, and map her walk.

Walk with

Michael Milton

Michael Milton walks without limits. Michael is Australia’s fastest skier, and first ever Winter gold medallist. And he does it all on one leg. Walk with him now, from Castle Cove to the Twelve Apostles. Watch the videos, see his photos, and map his walk.

Great Ocean Walk

Victoria, Australia

The Great Ocean Walk stretches along 104 km of wild coastline, roaring ocean surf, plunging limestone cliffs and remote beaches. Home to echidnas, koalas, huge 60-metre Mountain Ash trees, shipwrecks, hundreds of characters and thousands of stories.
